We need your help:

  • Getting things ready before hand (lots of work but easy!)
  • Helping on BOTH nights with operations (security, parking, tickets, t-shirt sales, etc)
  • Cleanup, and tear down

We are due for some togetherness & celebration this fall! The Friends of Lapham Peak will present the 23rd Annual Fright Hike at Lapham Peak on Friday, October 28th & Saturday, October 29th. Proceeds from this fundraising event benefit projects in the Park including snow making and habitat restoration.

Each Halloween, for two nights, the beautiful, moonlit, paths of Lapham Peak are riddled with ghosts & goblins.  Fright Hike has been a great opportunity for area junior & high school students to be part of a community service project.  The students create their own haunted site & act out their roles for this spooktacular event. Each club or team earns money for their school group or non-profit organization. Over 4000 residents attend this festive weekend. It is great fun for our community & all involved.

Fright Hike is an extremely large event that requires many volunteers to ensure its continued success. We need to recruit Team Captains to help Fright Hike run smoothly. A Team Captain is a leader who will work as a liaison with the event coordinator & help assist with one aspect of the Hike, such as:

  • parking, security, sales, tickets, pumpkin carving, VIP tent, lighting, etc (see the signup website)

This may include helping to find other volunteers for the team to accomplish tasks for the Hike (such as set up, labor during the event, & any clean up or tear down of that particular area). Being a Team Captain will require you to meet with Angela at least once prior to the event for training and direction. You must also be available to commit some time to set-up (if necessary for your station), be present to lead your team BOTH evenings of the event (approximately 5:30pm-9:00pm), & clean-up your area the day after if needed. No experience is necessary, but a love of the park, Halloween, kids, organizing & people will help! Plan to join the party for all cast members & volunteers after the event on Saturday!

Reminder!
For tear down, the skit performers are to clean up their sites, but they could use a helping hand.  Clean-up is 10am - 11:30am on Sunday Oct 30. All sites must be cleared and moved back to the barn on Sunday.  Pick-up trucks/vehicles may drive on the trail if it is not too wet. Small utility vehicles and 4-wheelers with trailers are preferred if you own them and can help to transport props off the trails.
